April 24, 200323 yr After takeoff is the pilot supposed to follow the flight director? I end up going slightly too nose up then too nose down etc....... What's the correct procedure? Many Thanks
April 24, 200323 yr I've read to pitch up to 10 degrees initially then follow the FD upto 16 but it continues past that, should I follow it no matter what? Also, what speed am I aiming for?Regards,
April 24, 200323 yr Set((V2))in the speed window and pitch between 15-18 degrees, gearup and then you should be able to follow the F/D a little better although don't ((chase it)). A "normal takeoff" you would start to accelerate and retract flaps at 1000' AGL. Some airlines do it different. If a noise abatemnt T/O is needed , Procedure A: You should be aiming for V2 + 10-20 knots till 3000' AGL. Procedure B: Vref + 90 knots till 3000' AGL. I follow this initial pitch because a real 767 pilot friend told me that is what he does and sometimes in the real world following the F/D could lead one into the ground![h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. April 25, 200323 yr It sounds like you're "chasing" the FD. Try to steady out your pitch angle and make small adjustments, as you're likely overcompensating. You can also try to pitch for the target airspeed, which is basically what the FD is trying to do.Lee Hetherington (KBED)http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
