Real ZFW

Featured Replies

Here's one for pilots:I'm looking for ZFW data. I have some real flightplans for Virgin 747-400's which i used to get actual ZFW's off. I like using PIC to do UK charter flights to Greece and Spain (as i actually did on G-DIMB - MyTravel 767-300 from LGW to EFL). I was hoping to use real ZFW's. As little fuel is needed, the plane is light and takes off like a space shuttle. The charter airlines pack their 767's (WITH 2-4-2 SEATING!!!) and therefore must have fairly high ZFW's.Therefore, are there any pilots here who can tell me what data is used to calculate ZFW (i.e. Ibs per pax, luggage etc...), or has anyone got a real flightplan from a "Bucket and Spader" flight? Thanks all.RobPS - I LOVE THE PI SOUNDS! I'm very new to the package, and that groan that kicks in on Takeoff is jut fantastic. Love cranking my sub up! (my Mum dosent though - hehehe)

Rob,following STD Weights are used by UK CHARTER carriers for pax and baggage:Male - 83KGSFemale - 69KGSChild - 35KGSInfant - 0Shorthaul Baggage - 13KGSLonghaul Baggage - 15KGSI have seen an ACA 763 210 seats, and an AAL 763 198 seats that have a higher ZFW than an AMM 763 with 312 seats. All 3 carrying cargo and similar crew compliments. Many factors affect the ZFW.Crew compliment.Catering Weight.Cargo Weight.FAK Weight. (Fly a way Kit - Spares Bin)ULD Weight.Pax Weight.Baggage Weight.MEL Items. The PIC ZFW is very realistic to what you would expect in Real life. This is a qualified statement - I do aircraft weight and balance for a living OOM 763 EGPF - CYYC ZFW was 111800 KGS approx.PIC 763 Default ZFW is 111300 KGS approx.Hope this helps.

"Are you one of the guys who make planes stand on their tail ?"Actually, it was the cargo unloaders who did this, guys (although, at the time, KAL's cargo unloading procedures weren't quite as cautious as other airlines').It's a shame a few more shots weren't taken of the rebalancing act... Most amusing. Whilst an aircraft tug was pulling down on the nose gear, I had the job of ferrying volunteers up to the front right hand door in a scissor lift. They would then make their way towards the cockpit to add their weight to the nose. A crane with a sling was supporting the fuselage, just in case the nose came down too quickly ;-)http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/DSCF0162.jpgNever a dull moment!Cheers.Ian.

Nope,I do loadsheets.Although nothing surprises me with KAL.

Hi Ian,I knew it was the cargo loaders - I was just joking. But excellent picture of the recovery (looks like I chose the right incident :)). But what did they do prior to the rebalancing at? Did they slide all the remaining cans out at the back, or were the some left behing at the front end of the fuselage? And how hard DID it come down in the end?Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

"But what did they do prior to the rebalancing act? Did they slide all the remaining cans out at the back, or were the some left behing at the front end of the fuselage?"It would be very dangerous moving cargo around, Tero, especially at that angle. Even if they could get the pallet locks undone, I think the slope would have been too great to trust the traction of the cargo drive wheels (essentially rubber tyres trying to grip onto the slippery metal undersurface of the pallets). There may have been a power problem too (I'm not familiar with the MD11, but some aircraft go into "air-mode" with the nosewheel off the ground, taking power off the cargo drive system. I know the APU was shut down pretty quickly... before it burned a hole in the tarmac.CAUTION JETBLAST! :-)http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/Dscf0172.jpg"And how hard DID it come down in the end?"It was very much an anticlimax.... It had a very slow and soft landing :-(Cheers.Ian.

Speaking of the APU, am I correct in assuming that the two holes to the right, just above the elevators, is the APU exhaust?

Not really sure what they are, Kaspar (Cooling intakes for APU accessories?).No, I posted an "off topic" picture... The APU exhaust is on the lower right side of the tailcone (out of view).Sorry!Cheers.Ian.
