Hi,I've been a long time flying the PIC and I have noticed (however I don't understand why) that the spoiler where not at all effective: I was in descent, from fl350 to fl140 at 285kts on a -2600ft/min slope, using the spoiler did nothing at all...I don't know what's wrong with this? I'm using PIC/posky merge and I didnt find in the "aircraft" file any line to modify related to the spoiler (maybe parasite drag?)Did you guys usually experience that?Could you help me solving this out?MichaelParis

Hi Michael,I recall some years ago now :) when Eric and team first released PIC and this subject came up (many times).Eric (actual B767 pilot with AA) said at the time that the PIC implementation was actually correct, and that the spoilers (at least on the real 767) don't have that dramatic effect as MS models in it's default a/c.I've never flown a 767, so unable to comment beyond Eric's words on this issue.Bruce.

Michael,You don't want to modify the spoiler drag as PIC has the numbers correct and many other FDE's have way too much drag added in the .air file.I believe spoilers are used more for lift dumping rather then speed reduction. I find when I dial in a slower speed while say descending through FL150 for FL100 the aircraft pitches up a bit to obtain the new speed and when I add some speed brake the plane settles in nicely to both the new dialed in speed and v/s rate. Because of the wide body design of the 767, it's much easier to manage descents then the very slippery 757, so be thankful you're not trying to slow down that slippery bird as real world pilots will tell you that speed planning on descent can get tricky in the 57.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer

"I believe spoilers are used more for lift dumping rather then speed reduction."Totally agree with you Van, however I do think I have a problem on this because while descending (at even a normal rate of descend though!), I was using full spd brakes extension, with no dramatic effect; Once, I did even maintain a certain altitude with spoiler deployed without affecting barely anything (just doing a 4/5 kts of speed variation)..You might get now my astonishment !I ve verified my manipulation in merging the pic/posky, I ve also verified the taxi N1 "air" manipultion just to ensure the deal couldn't come from there.I should check that from the very beginning to be absolutely sure. Thanks anyway for replying very fast, we can always count on you simmers!MichaelParis "douce France"
