November 6, 200322 yr Hi Folks,Just reinstalled my 767PIC 'cause it looks like I have to get onto the 767 in February. While browsing through the manuals I noticed that quite a few features seem to be missing in 767PIC.the amber maneuvering speed is missing from the speed tape.all autothrottle limits are missing: FLAP LIM, ALPHA, SPD LIM.all pitch limits are missing: FLAP LIM, SPD LIM.Question #1: Have I overlooked something ?Question #2: Will these features be there in PIC2.Question #3: Is it likely that PIC2 will be available before Feb 04 ?RegardsBernt Stolle Capt CRJ
November 6, 200322 yr If you did a fresh reinstall, then you have the standard style EADI selected by default. If you go to your PIC tab and select settings and then realsim and carrier options you can then select the Pegasus style EADI which I believe has most of the options you are looking for.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
November 6, 200322 yr A do have the Pegasus style EADI but also the 767PIC manual doesn't mention any of these limits.I thought that maybe the fs2002 introduced these features ?Thanx for your replyBernt Stolle Capt CRJ
November 6, 200322 yr You should have all the Flap limit speeds available with the Pegasus option if you have indeed entered a flight plan with all parameters into the FMC prior to departure.I don't recall ever seeing 'Alpha speed' protection in the PIC767 current version. Regards, jack
November 7, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi Bernt,Yes, those features are indeed missing from PIC. Also, you'll notice the electrical system isn't 100% correct (no simulation of the captain's or fo's instrument transfer system). However, most systems are modelled you'll need for a normal flight. While impressive, the failure generation isn't really useful for training. (Heck, it's a $50 software!!)Have fun with the conversion, no flaps 18 here :-)Regards,Mark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
November 7, 200322 yr With all your respect I do think the Failures in 767 PIC are very useful in training... I mean I have learned a lot from this software alone, and It has been somewhat useful in my pilot career, cause I have been able to see some of the pilot
November 7, 200322 yr Hi,I posted a query on this earlier today. You can select the Pegasus presentation and programme the v speeds in the FMS but you do not get the F and Vref speeds for flap 25/30 on the speed tape?Dont know about the other querys as I am on the 757? RgdsSimmslot
November 7, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi Roberto!Interesting discussion! Please note that the following is simply my personal opinion:767PIC will teach you what buttons to press in some abnormal situations. Many failures are simplified, and will either only fail a minor component or a major one (let's say a complete AC BUS), and the resulting consequences are not very deep. Also, while you do have a co-pilot in the adventures, this co-pilot is not very helpful. I don't know how the teamwork is managed at different airlines, only at a major German airline. Here, teamwork and cooperation is written very big and is one of the fundements of the airline. In 767PIC you are by yourself and you do everything by yourself. If you then find yourself in a two (wo)man team, you'll have problems seperating the tasks done by the PF or the PNF (PF = pilot flying, PNF = pilot not flying). While this may seem to be a small problem, in a stressful situation where you have to react quickly, you have to know what your tasks are and what you can rely upon. Basically, a typerating here will cover this topic very extensively. Not so much the functioning of the systems (you are supposed to learn that by heart before you even start the rating) but rather how you manage the aircraft with two people. That is why I don't think 767PIC is very useful for multi-crew-training. However, with 767PIC 2.0 this might change entirely!!Also, please note that this statement above only shows my opinion in using 767PIC for training purposes and to use compare it with multimillion level D sims.By itself, 767PIC is a fantastic program and I was astonished when I first flew it!!Regards,Mark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
November 9, 200322 yr Commercial Member HI Roberto,Yes, you are right. After "playing" with 767PIC you most probably won't have any problems with turning a cold & dark A/C on. Heck, if you know how to operate the ILS reciever on the non pegasus birds, you can even set it up for an autoland... But then you are in a world where you are alone, you decide by yourself and act by yourself, and, most importantly, everything works as you imagine it.But I won't go into that as I have done so above.I agree that 767PIC is definetely the most accurate airline simulation available for FS2004 and most probably the second (and in some regards first) the second best available on the market.Regards,Mark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
