April 23, 200422 yr Hello,I just watched a 767 video and they used engine anti ice when the OAT reached 9 degrees celsius. They never switched on wing anti ice though.I never saw them switch it on for the whole flight. Is this normal or did they do it without me noticing?Regards,Alexander Martin.http://img33.photobucket.com/albums/v99/wa.../alexbanner.jpg
April 23, 200422 yr Alexander,This passage from a 767 AOM will answer your Q. Wing AI is mainly used to melt the ice already formed, so it's not for "preventive" use like Engine AI primarily is. However, Wing AI can be used as an anti-icer as well, as seen below:http://www.ee.oulu.fi/~partanen/jako/wingai.jpgrgdsTero PPL(A)

April 25, 200422 yr Yes, it is used only in icing conditions and when temp is below +10C, but not anymore when below -40 C as that ice will not attach to the plane anymore.
