AFCAD & ATC

Featured Replies

FolksI'm a bit at a loss here:I use AFCAD files to activate multiple runway use at some very busy airports.Example: KMIA for heavy jets and 2MIA for domestic traffic. I ususally land at KMIA and have ATC and Tower service from KMIA, too.So far no problem. But when I'm ready for re-departure and contact the tower for taxi clearance I always get connected with 2MIA with no possibility to change over to KMIA.Is there a way to change this ?

When you contact Clearance or Ground, you will be connected to the facility with the closest airport reference point (the pink dot in AFCAD). If you can move the ref point for KMIA closer to your gates than 2MIA's, then you will be able to contact them. However, if they use different runways, the ref points should really be in the middle of each overlay's runway, so arriving aircraft will contact the correct Ground facility and taxi to the correct gates. Most authors think that's more important than where you get vectored for takeoff. You can't always get both, unfortunately, depending on the layout of the airport.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
