ATC doesn't direct me to a gate!

Featured Replies

Hi,Everything is fine till exiting runway after landing. Contact ground then try to choose taxi to gate but there are only choise for VFR even though I have just landed after IFR flight. What happened to ground control??Appreciate your help.Yuki

Now this is based on my experience, not any solid evidence. If anybody can back me up on this, I'd appreciate it otherwise consider this a theory. :-lolIf you've got an IFR flight plan which lands you at a towerless airport (KMIV -- Milville Municipal, and KAUG -- Augusta State match that description), you'll be passed to an approach controller who'll get you vectored to your approach and then give you "Tune advisory on [some UNICOM freq.]"Once you get to those airports, you're on your own...

Hi Yuki,Hmmmm...has your ATC ever gave you the option to taxi to the gate?. Are you told to contact ground after landing at which you do and the only option you get is VFR! seems odd, never heard of that happening before. Sounds to me that " ground Control " is hanging out with those " American West airbus pilots "Hope you get it fixed! This Hobby Just Keeps Getting Better... :-yellow1Kind RegardsRobert

yuki, don't know if this will help point you in the right direction but i once had a similar problem - i'd land but upon contacting ground my only option was 'request taxi for takeoff' - VFR of course since my ifr flight had just ended :-hmmm. this happened because THERE WERE NO GATES AVAILABLE FOR THE SIZE AIRCRAFT I WAS FLYNG. I was flying a a 'heavy' but there were no heavy class gates at the airport (i had been messing about with AFCAD) Regards,Mark

Regards,

Mark

That happened to me recently at a smaller airport (KSSC, I think). Afterward, I used AFCAD to examine that airport and found that the FS2002 default version of that airport includes NO gates. So I fixed it. R-

Thanks guys!I think that avalability of gate seems to be the cause.I would consider airport upgrade with AFCAD.Regards, yuki
