How does it work: ATC visible on ServInfo, but not in S

Recommended Posts

Hi,Yesterday I was flying from EHAM to LEPA (Amsterdam to Palma de Mallorca, Europe-C server). I will finish this tonight, but I wanted to do a radiocheck with the ATC of Palma de Mallorca. I knew he was there (Uk server) as I could see his details on servinfo. However, the ATC directory from Squawkbox did not show him on the list. In servInfo it was stated that he used Roger Wilco, but the 'join'-button was disabled.I wondered if he was part of a private session and typed a .msg to him. He replied that he for sure was available to everyone coming in or leaving palma de mallorca. Still I could not find him on the ATC Directory. For some time now I have noticed that the list on ServInfo (VATSIM) is mostly far more longer than the list in ATC Directory. Is somebody able to explain this? Thanks in advance!Regards, Ferry

The ATC list inside SB is affected by range. You won't see ATC that is too far away. Having said that, I do not know if that was your problem.Lee Hetherington (KBOS)

Most probably this caused it. Incredible how it knows the range...Thanks for your info!Regards, Ferry
