Entering Center Control Space

Recommended Posts

This is probably a really dumb question but:How do I know when I'm about to enter a control center ie. Cleveland Center. How do I know when to call up the center and announce my position. Is there a way in flightsim to show the control center coverage or is there a map available that I could use to assist me. I just don't know the boundaries of these control zones and when I'm about to enter one. Thanks in advance for the reply.

Hi!Consider getting servinfo (http://www.avsim.com/hangar/utils/servinfo/)It's a very valuable program. You can see all ATC & pilots online and all center boundaries as well as a wealth of other info. If you like, you can call center approx. 5 minutes before entering.Additionally it countains a gauge that visualizes all voice channels and enables their selection without leaving the cockpit (FS-window).

>Nope not a dumb question at all. If a centre controller is>on-line he should call you first. But just in case here is a>map of the US for you.>>http://www.vatusa.org/training/centerchart.htm...providing the hand-off controller tells you the freq to change to and that contoller is on line.A set of IFR charts is your best bet of not straying into someone else's airspace un-announced.
