SB2.3 crash on installation - why?

Featured Replies

I have just downloaded the vatsim pilot-package. Right in the start (after been clicking 'next', 'ok' and 'browse' etc) of the installation of the SB I get the following message: 'Component Tranfer Error', 'Files: CSL', 'Result: Catastrophic'.After that the installation terminates. The percent reader has even been saying 1 percent...I then tried to download the SB2.3 alone from avsim. But the result were the same.Does anybody have an idea or good advice how I fix this - is it my machine or the download?thx, walleps. I run XP Pro

Assuming you use FS9.Read carefull all in PRC 103d.Make sure you first have create directories "as if you had FS2002".C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002AircraftC:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002ModelsTake note that initial installaton anyway can fail, the CSL-files goes directly under root to C:Aircraft and C:ModelsAnyhow copy files as instructed to FS9Aircraft.Lennart Vedin SAS202

hi Lennart.Thx - I will try that tonight and get back to you.cheers, walle

Hi Lennart.I how done and tried as you suggested. But still it crash upon starting the installation - and says:'Component Tranfer Error', 'Files: CSL', 'Result: Catastrophic'.I made the fs2002 folder with the two other folders inside but apperently to no help??Can you help from here?Walle

1. Turn off all anit-virus while install.2. Just try install on an other computer see wath happend. You don't need FS9, just the fs2002 folders.Lennart Vedin SAS202

Hi againIt still won't install. It still announces the same error?Regarding your previous advices...(1. Turn off all anit-virus while install.)No anit-virus is turned on/installed so it can't be that thing does it(2. Just try install on an other computer see wath happend. You don't need FS9, just the fs2002 folders.)I have no other computer to test on... sorrywalle

Search this forum. Maybe look for "dweese".I know your fail-describtion is a previous subject, but I don't remember what more information it contain if any. I know no more.Lennart Vedin SAS202

Try and download just SB from the Vatsim site. Then make sure you delete all of the old install. Folder, CSL folders as well. Then try the reinstall.

Hi Dave.Thx for your inputs - unfortunatly they didnt work.First and foremost because I don't have any previous SB-installation on my pc. Regarding a new dl of only the SB - that I have already tried and it didnt help.I have tried renaming the InstallShield folder to InstallShieldOld and let the PC make a new one on restart - it didnt help either. Finally I tried installing Lago's TerraMesh from a CD - and that came up with the same error except this time it wasn't the CSL-folder/files but the Program Folder????But it's not that my PC is dead regarding installing new stuff - I have just installed (15 min ago) EuroWings 2004, Lago's Italy Scenery + a few others...Can you see a solution to this one?Walle

You can try installing it under a Clean Startup. Check the Microsoft site under FAQ for FS for more info on it.

Are you using Windows XP with service pack 2?If so you must turn off the windows firewall. it seems to kill installations.Start -> Controll Panel -> Windows Firewall -> click to OFFyou can turn it on again once all the installations have been done.
