November 23, 200421 yr I am new to this so be kind - please.I am at an airfield with in contact with a controller the weather is definitely IFR and I am cleared to take-off. Should I be given this clearance? Regards Keith B. Life is a short dash between two dates on a Tombstone
November 23, 200421 yr Do you mean if ATC do correct handling when giving you clearancy. If you have an IFR FlightPlan, ATC would give you IFR-clearany if the route is OK. It's your responsibility that you can fly by IFR.If you have VFR FlightPlan and wether is IFR, the ATC should refuse your flight. Lennart Vedin SAS202
November 23, 200421 yr Author Lennart,This is the case. I thought I should have not be given clearance. Regards Keith B. Life is a short dash between two dates on a Tombstone

November 24, 200421 yr >>refuse your flight>>>This is the case. I thought I should have not be given>clearance. This would be correct when it's about real life aviation, the weather conditions are the same for everyone. In VATSIM, you can't really tell what weather data a pilot has. Even if he or she uses data provided by VATSIM, it may vary due to server-side problems. That's why the decision completely at pilot's discretion.Regards,Matti.
