Firewall

Hi all just a quicky should you always turn off your xp firewall prior to flying online and does anybody know how to reinstall direct x 9.0Cmany thanksdaz

Look for "directx buster" on www.downloads.com to clean up your previous install. Then get the DirectX installer from www.microsoft.com/downloads. The 9.0c end-user runtime is under Popular Downloads currently at #2. Be *sure* to read the directions that come with DirectX Buster. I wouldn't think that you should turn off the firewall, but if you're running SP2 you might need to specifically give permission to SB3 to access. If you're not running SP2, switch to ZoneAlarm, it will ask once and if you check "Remember this" it will not trouble you again. I used it all weekend, no prob.

Hi thanks for the helphappy landings allcheersDaz

Im running XP SP2 and the firewall, Use the firewall on vatsim fine, I did open a port for Squawkbox 2.3 ages ago and havn't thought about it since. Using SB3.0.2 now and it's still working fine, and I havn't had to open ports or shut down the firewall. Seems SB3.0.2 uses the same port as SB2.3 did.
