January 19, 200620 yr So, I leave from an airport with no controllers. I submit my flight plan. When I fly to an area that is controlled would I then contact the controller there? Would they have my flight plan? When I submit a plan, who get's it? I ask as I am getting back into online flying.JimCYWG
January 19, 200620 yr Hello Jim,If the airport you are departing from is not within the controllers range you depart on your own descretion following the standard routings/SID etc.You contact a controller when you are approaching his boundary limits, or when asked to do so by the controller.Your flight plan, once submitted, is available to all ATC controllers in range. You do not have to re-submit a flight plan, unless you are requested to do so by the controller. And while in uncontrolled airspace, don't forget to announce your intensions on unicom (122.80) so that other pilots in the area are aware of your presense and intensions.Happy flying.George DorkofikisAthens, Hellashttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.png
January 20, 200620 yr When you fly into a controlled area, you'll receive a sound alert. The controllers will have access to your flight plan. You file your flight plan VIA your pilot client (SB3 or FSInn) or the web at http://www.vatsim.net/fp . Other details of this can be found in the PRC at: http://usa-w.vatsim.net/prc/VPTPublic/122/122a/122a.htm . -- L. James------------------------L. D. [email protected]/~ljames
