December 1, 200619 yr Just a questionWill Vatsim ever add precipition to its weather engine.I really enjoy flying online, that would add a new level of realityIf not does anyone fly with a 3rd party wx generatorand if so how does that integate with Vatsim wx.ThanksPeter
December 3, 200619 yr Hi Peter. It's not the VATSIM weather engine that is responsible for seeing precipitation. If you use FSInn to connect to VATSIM you will see rain/snow etc. The developer of Squawkbox decided not to include the facility as so many people use a 3rd party weather generator.FSMetar (freeware), FSMeteo and ActiveSky (both payware) all work fine with VATSIM.You can read a more detailed discussion on the VATSIM forums at http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?t=14465&start=0RuthVATGOV7Vice-president, Communications, VATSIM
December 4, 200619 yr Author Thank you for that explanation, I never know that, But does that mean that online atc will all see the same prec for all aircraft if the pilot is connected via fsinn.Regards and thanks for thatpeter
December 6, 200619 yr Vatsim WX is sent from a server and does not know what client you're using to connect to Vatsim. I have found that ATC always uses Vatsim WX, except during the recent 2-day outage. FSInn should be fetching network weather (see page 20 in the FSInn 1.2 manual, available on the same page from which you downloaded FSInn) if you have not disabled it on the Weather Options tab (page 26); there is also a selection on the Weather Options tab to "Disable all precipitations" (page 26).If your friends are using ActiveSky, there is an option to use Vatsim WX; I don't know about the other weather clients.
