You want cockpit measurements ?

Featured Replies

Hello guys,Like many of you I also was curious about the measurements for building my ( 747 for me ) cockpit.Only where to get them.Tip : Get DXTbmp. Then with that go to your Fs2002/aircraft folder. There open the aircraft of your choice ( 747 - 737 - 777 etc ). In there there you find a folder called Texture. In that folder you will find bitmaps with all panelparts.Just open f.e. B 747_400_C and there you will find what you need.Further you need a poster from the cockpit you want.I myself have two from a 747-400 cockpit. The measurements for the displays I knew already, as also those for the MCP , EFIS and EICAS panel.By sending the opened bitmap to your favorite Paintprogramm, in my case Paintshop, you can select the parts that you want and save them. Then you blow them up.If you know the measurements from an FMC you can calculate the whole Pedstal , Throttle Quadrant etc.If you know the measurements from the displays of your main panel , you can calculate every peace of it.This weekend I will make a simple layout for the 747-400 with all the measurements needed. Here some examples :Main panel - wide 152 cm height till undersite MCP 35 cmMCP - wide 43 cm height 7,3 cmEFIS - wide 12 cm height 7,3 cmEICAS panel - wide 6 cm height 6,3 cmRadio panel - wide 42 cm long 52 cmThrottle qua -wide 37 cm long 33 cmPedstal part for FMC's and throttle quadrant - wide 48 cm long 54 to 40 cm ( radio p.=2 cm wider )FMC - wide 14 cm long 21 cmFlight displ- wide 20 cm height 20 cmGear panel - wide 9,5 cm height 26,5 cm I think those measurements are 90-95 % accurate. Some even 100% as I have found them. The measurements of the cockpit space I have seen on the net also and saved them on my pc at work.Let me know if you are interested in more.Happy flying,Gerard SaldenBeta Tester WideviewBeta Tester FsLandclass

Hi Gerard,Ive just read your post and Iam sorry to say that this technique has given you inaccurate results. One example is your Main panel which is 4 inches too short on the width and 1 inch to short on the height. There are a few other results which are correct on either the width but not the length or vice versa eg: Landing gear panel should be Wide: 10.5cm Height: 26.5cmIts hard relying on microsoft BMP images, but your definately on the right track though when it comes to blowing up sizes from drawings etc. I only wish I had a cad program so I could make up proper drawings of the 747-400 for everyone.Gaz

Hello Gaz,Thanks for the corrections. You are right on those measurements. My fault with the main panel was that I knew that the displays where 8" , but I took the outside bars instead of what was visual. If you have any corrections on other things let me know. For me by this way I had something to start with. And I also think that if I had built the cockpit with those measurements, no one would have seen it when standing in the cockpit. But the more accurate the better. From this configuration I am going to built the "real" thing. And I think that I have to stick with the PSS 747 , because of the fully operative lower Eicas which Magenta unfortunately does not have.As also mutiple overhead functions.I already know someone who wants to help me with buildong the MCP and Radio's and help me with programming that.Again, thanks for the measurements. If you have more let me know.Happy flyng,Gerard SaldenBeta Tester WideviewBeta Tester FsLandclass
