November 1, 200223 yr Is there any way to make an engine recognize 2 seperate mag commands? Unlike a C172 where you can cycle the mags on the ignition key, an aircraft such as the Navajo uses seperate toggle switches to turn on the left and right mag, and then there is a starter switch for the engine... I see no key command in flightsim for a #1 Engine Left Mag On or a #1 engine right mag ON. It seems the magneto system is more setup for the key type ignition. It looks to me that no matter how many mags are on engine 1, one command covers them all. Am I correct in saying this? Thanks!Chris
November 1, 200223 yr No, fortunately you are not correct. There are magneto commands for four individual engines. The problem is that the key and button assignment functions in FS only cover a small portion of the commands that are actually available. The older solution was to manually edit the config file, in FS2002 it's called FS2002.cfg. It's a text file and can be edited with Notepad. The other solution now is the latest version of Peter Dowson's FSUIPC addon which allows you to assign all available functions either to joystick buttons or keyboard keys from within FS.Either way, you'll need to go here,http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmland get Peter's FS2002 controls file, which explains how to edit the config file, if that's the way you go, and what commands are available. Then get the latest version of FSUIPC if you don't want to edit the config file.Peter
November 1, 200223 yr Author Thanks PeteThat did the trick... I was aware of the commands available, but I was misreading them... I didn't releize that the Magneto_Right would actually work for an individual mag.. I thought it was for the Cessna 172/Baron type where they are OFF-LEFT-RIGHT-BOTH-START so selecting the MAG_RIGHT would just toggle to the key selection right..anyways that did the trick andnow I have control over the right and left rocker switches for engine 1 mags!!Thanks alot!Chris
