April 6, 200323 yr While searching thw web, I found this site that has some good prices on monitors.http://www.rpdigitals.com/auto/
April 11, 200323 yr I've seen some of those knock-off LCD displays before and here's fair warning: They are mostly pure crap on the inside. Most of them look like they are thrown together with parts from an old tube radio and a spare dishwasher. There's little or no EMI shielding, cold solder joints are common and in some cases, the LCD panel elements have major flaws.I have also purchased 2 of these LCD monitors off Ebay, with the same results.Save your money, and go look at www.partsexpress.com and click on the Mobile Video tab. I have purchased several small 5" LCD panels from them and they are far superior to anything I've seen elsewhere. The 5" LCD panels are clear, sharp, well color-balanced and take a standard NTSC 1vP-P video signal quite well without any video artifacts. Ray S. April 11, 200323 yr Are you Serious? It seems like you're comparing an item you brought off e-bay with the items on that web site. Look. I don't know what kind of soldering they do or how deep they get into there quality control. I do know that the monitor I brought has a one year warranty from the manufacture. Also.. These are the same monitors I have installed into private aircraft (Falcon, Gulf stream IV, and Challengers).I am in no way trying to sell anyone anything. I just thought I would notify other about something that I thought was a good buy. Unlike something off e-bay............
April 15, 200323 yr Just to throw in my 2 cents..... I've ben buying my LCD monitors from a company in California called Caltron Industries. You can check them out at www.caltronind.com. In particular, I use the "open frame" kits which come wiithout screen frames for easy mounting behind a panel. They come in sizes from 6" to 23". I use one 18" monitor to display the Project Magenta PFD and ND. Phil
