October 21, 200322 yr I haven't seen this on the forum however, I was surfin around the internet to try get as much info on projectors before I break down and buy one and I came accross this site http://www.audiovisualizers.com/madlab/lcd_proj.htm on how to build a DIY projector. Now some sim builders will get a good laugh out of this, however, some builders on a tight budget just might find it useful? :-)You won't get close to the same quality of a retail projector, but for around $150 - $300, it just might work for a temporary unit till the cash is saved up to purchase a $2000 projector. After that, some of the components from the DIY projector can be use in the cockpit??Maybe someone will find it usefull?? :-rollGuy Archer
October 22, 200322 yr Instead of building or buying new...In the past year, I've bought two 1024x768 projectors off eBay which were being sold by offices. Each cost me about $400, with under 200 hours on the bulbs. Their original price a few years ago was over $9000 each (!).I project onto a $10 white window shade (5' x 5').One I use for the outside view in FS behind a monitor showing the instruments, the other we use with a little three speaker system for TV viewing. Can't beat it!
October 22, 200322 yr That's pretty neat. I was thinking, "why not use fluorescent tubes to reduce heat?" And this guy did:http://www.geocities.com/zark5150/projector.htmlPeter http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/PeterR.gifBFU Forums ModeratorRenegade/Seawolf Design Group (RSDG)

http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/logo75t.gifBush Flying Unlimited"At home in the wild"Looking for adventure?
