It could be, Roger, but it's hard to say. Much depends upon the approach taken to control loading. A control loading system based on directly modulating a force applied to the column requires very frequent service. (i.e. electro-hydraulics) My rather dated literature suggests loop updates every 2 milliseconds for proper feel. This argues for a local controller for the loop. This controller would communicate with the host PC. You could use that USB device to support the comunication, but used only in that capacity, it looks like overkill.A control loader based on torque motors is more like an adjustable spring. It needs less frequent updates. The USB device might work reasonably well for this.Control loading using a spring with moveable tensioning points needs even less frequent updating. The USB device would work, but again might be overkill.If it's cheap, overkill is not a problem. Otherwise, prototyping a successful loading mechanism first seems preferable.Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.com

Interesting devices. It's perhaps a little pricey IMO for the intended use, but its simple enough and one can use DX to access the device (readfile & writefile functions) similar to mine since its HID compliant.You will however have to write your own app software to talk to this device and act as a go between with FS. I don't know of any ready to use app that can do this, so you will definitely have to program something to drive your hardware. Something to keep in mind in your search for a viable solution.Alternately, as someone suggested, rip out the guts of a FF Joystick and use that to drive your hardware.-Leo

The following step was to design and to construct the system of movement in tamden of the columns and yokes, after proving I realized that the movements of ailerons were very soft, nothing real, calculated as it was the effort of handle of a length of 98 cm. of height, this is of about 25 kg, I bought in one surplus two pneumatic pistons of 2.5 cm. of diameter and 7 cm. of route, with a surface of push of 4,75Kg/cm2 in opposition, apply 5.5 bar air pressure by 4,75 kg/cm2= 26,1 kg effort, and the result was wonderful, totally real.SaludosPerchas

Yes, and, especially: how did you solve the problem of those things canceling each other out?They add nice dampening effect if one just puts them against each other, but then it doesnt center too well, at least in my experience.Tuomas
