October 27, 200322 yr I'm testing out the FreeFD software and have successfully configured my instrumentation PC to boot, launch the software and run ALL without intervention from (except for pressing the power button, of course ;)).This is important because this PC will be buried in the dash of my flight deck, and I don't want to touch the mouse or keyboard, and I don't want to use VNC to control it remotely. The problem?Windows places the mouse pointer in the middle of the screen on bootup. This has two effects: 1 - it's positioned on top of my EICAS display. 2 - If the mouse is over the window being rendered, its frame rates drop... seriously.I've removed the mouse completely (physically) and the pointer goes away. I'd like to leave a mouse attached in case I need to access it. So, does anyone out there know of a way to specify the mouse's position on startup? Thanks,Chris

That way you can avoid having a keyboard and a mouse on each of them, and just have a VNC server listening on the network interface in case you need to access them, each can have their own password and such if one is needed.http://www.realvnc.com/It's like those "pc anywhere" things but free, open source project and works very nicely. My wife uses it occasionally to run windows applications from the windows machine on her Mac laptop screen. It might work nicely for a home cockpit administration setup as well, since one might have many computers inside the cockpit.Tuomas
October 27, 200322 yr Thanks Tuomas, but I think you're referring to the same thing I mentioned:>This is important because this PC will be buried in the dash of my >flight deck, and I don't want to touch the mouse or keyboard, and I >don't want to use VNC to control it remotely. In fact, I agree, this is a fantastic program. I use a version called TightVNC myself for controlling PCs over our WAN at work. That is always the fall-back position I can take.I'm just wondering if there is a way to set a default mouse position on startup.Chris
October 28, 200322 yr I don't know of a built-in way to do that. However, you could write a little utility that calls the SetCursorPos() function to put it whereever you like. Then, run your tool from the Start Up folder.Peter http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/PeterR.gifBFU Forums ModeratorRenegade/Seawolf Design Group (RSDG)

http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/logo75t.gifBush Flying Unlimited"At home in the wild"Looking for adventure?
