October 29, 200322 yr Hi All,As I work on finalizing the design for the soon to be released "Photon" parallel port output device, a loose thread I'm trying to gather is the size/style of 7-segment display digits. My own cockpit in progress is a 737-700 and if my measurements are in the ballpark then 0.3" wide by 0.5" high displays are required (note: dimensions are for actual chip, not the digit itself which is slightly smaller). What are others using? What size requirements would you all have for various aircraft? Colors? If possible I'd like to make the display board fairly generic - you'd add as many digits as you need (e.g. 3 for MCP Heading display) and mount it. This may not be doable if there are a myriad of different size requirements. An alternate will be to provide connections that would have to be soldered to the display of your choice along with a wiring diagram (it appears that every 7-seg chip has its own unique pinout). I suppose custom boards are also possible (but would be more pricey).Your input is appreciated. Thanks!Scotthttp://www.flightsimsolutions.com
October 29, 200322 yr I have the HDSP-7803(Green) 7.6mm for my 747-400 MCP using the display boards from CSI which I have to say are great. At the time I only had the option between green and red here in Australia.Im about to change them for white to simulate the new -400er model, again using the 7.6mm size. Your right about about the pinouts for the displays. Each size and manufacturer is different so you would have to make different boards for each.Gaz
