Fslcd problems

Featured Replies

Hi all,I am attempting to use this for my gauges till i get the Simkits ones.I have been able to configure most of important ones.My problem is that the reading for heading differs by 20 degrees compared to what Fsdisplays.I have either lost the plot or there is aproblem with FSLCD.Can anyone shed some light?.Appreciate any comments.ThanksLes

Take a look and see what the FS Variation / Deviation are. the #hdg# and #truehdg# values in FSLCD are both True bearings, while the compass and heading indicator in FS read Magnetic.Richard

OK, I checked and that is the problem. Here's the answer. In FSLCD, click on the "FS" button. In the list of available readouts, highlight #hdg#. Click the "Copy" button (The one with a picture of two pages on it). The name and number of the reading will vanish. Type in #wcomp# as the name. At the bottom, in the field labelled "Subtract", type #magvar#. Click save, and OK. Now use #wcomp# instead of #hdg# in the application and you'll get the result you need.Richard

Hi Richard,A Merry Xmas to you and your family. Thanks for the reply, very helpful.Im just a wee bit puzzled. When i do as you said, yes evrything is fine .Can you explain why FSLCD will suddenly turn to a negative value from340 degrees to 360.Only in one direction. This was the bit that was causing me the problems after i posted originally.I am a completenovice when it comes to navigation problems like this. That why i like this forum, with people like you willing to help. Thanks again for showing interest in trying to solve my probs. Best RgdsLes

Les:>>Can you explain why FSLCD will suddenly turn to a negative value from 340 degrees to 360. Only in one direction. This was the bit that was causing me the problems after i posted originally.Hmm, what's obviously happening is that it isn't subtracting 360 properly, resulting in negative values. If the Magnetic bearing is, say, 350, and you add 20', you get 370, subtract 360 for 010. It seems for some reason it's still subtracting 360 even from numbers under 360. I'm not sure why, I'll try and figure it out for you.Richard

Hi Richard,Thanks ,dont spend to much time,as it appears not to be supported anymore.I think someone tried to email author but got nothing back.RgdsLes

I think a few people have tried with no success, Les - including myself. However, since I use it myself (though for the radio, not for gauges), I'm trying to figure out a workaround.Richard

Hi Richard,Thanks,i know the feeling, you want to find a solution.I decided to use it for radios.I just downloaded the PM GAIFR panels and using the instruments only.Gee they go well.I using a 17" Monitor and get all the main instruments about 70-85% full size. Will eventually go Simkits but this way(GAIFR) i get the extra loading off the pc i run a Parhelia with.Still be interested if you find a solution.Much appreciated for your efforts. They say more heads are better than one.Take careRGDSles

Glad to hear you're having good results with the GA gauges from PM. I downloaded the demo when they first released the GA panel, and again quite recently now they have the three versions, and the demo just didn't work right. The gauges kept changing size and position on me for no apparent reason. Given that PM don't even have the confidence in their own product to stand behind it with a warranty, I wasn't about to pay out $50 for a panel in the hope that a product sold "as-is, buy it 100% at your own risk, if it doesn't work then tough" works better than its demo.To my way of thinking, a software firms demo is its storefront - and if they haven't even got that right, it doesn't give me a lot of faith in the final product. Add that to the "buy at your own risk" lack of a warranty, and no - I don't think so. I know a lot of people love their airliner products, but I hadn't seen the same sort of feedback from multiple users of the GA version to make me overlook that lack of any guarantee it'll work. Richard

Hi all,,,I don't know where you guys are sending your support requests, but I haven't received any (OK, from Philippe yes - but not any of you) so far.I will give all my support but everything depends on my time. I'am traveling quite a lot so do not expect answers immediatelly. And really I haven't got any mails from you.You can e-mail you requests to the [email protected]. If you have any problems include description of your problem and your configuration files (*.ini). As well as information about the version you are using. And one more thing. I'am very seldom reading forums here in avsim. So please post your requests/problems to the http://www.fsnordic.net/discussion/index.php?board=33 (KOTIOHJAAMOT) (yes, most of things there seems to be in finnish but don't worry, we'll understand english as well)/Timo

Hi Timo,I appologise for not communicating directly. The reason for this was that i would rather see if someone else could work out if i was doing something wrong before bothering you.As you stated ,you are very busy. You have given us the program free and i surely did not want to burden you with something trivial that others could resolve.I think it is a great help to us.I will be in contact. Thanks, take careLes

Hello, TimoIt seems I have a wrong email address for you in my address book, I'll correct it.I'd like to also say in here that I'm very gratefull for your having released this free software, and that it fills my needs exactly.I'll email you this too, and post it on the other forum, but if you do come back, the problem I tried emailing you about was this. The value #adf# shows the frequency of the ADF, of course. The values are:-type : BCDAddress : 34CSize : 2Format : %06.1fSize : 6The problem is that the decimal place, which on the actual FS radio can be .0 or .5, only shows as .0 on the LCD (and on the FSLCD image of the actual LCD too) On my pit I have a single knob set up to tune the ADF and every second 'click' the lcd display jumps a full unit, while the FS display jumps 0.5 each click. How do I edit that to get it right? Thanks again,Richard
