I'm using a genuine 78l12 now, (led makes a very low light now), bus cable is shorter than 10cm, I've tried the "troubleshooting" test and voltages are rigth on all pins.:( :( :(any idea?thanks

There are those on both the COM card and the module you are flashing. And *only connect one module to COM-module when you are flashing*Jumper settings are listed here:http://mikkila.wabbits.org/fsbus/doc/layout_e.phpCheck those in relation to the other components and see that both are in program-mode. January 17, 200422 yr I've found the bug! It was a broken link between max232 pin 15 and ground. Now it works great!Now I can flash even with:-the 46cm bus cable-2 boards connected to the fscom (only one in programming mode of course)-9v power supply to the fscomAs usual a lot of troubleshooting was needed to make it works!Now I can try to read the pics with my pic programmer and post hex files for you. But I must be sure it is ok for the author first. Do you think he reads this forum? or should I contac him by email to ask?bye :) :) :)
