January 21, 200422 yr I'm VERY proud to show my 85% complete B1900D throttle. It uses all sorts of goodies, many of them found around the house, at Home Depot and most surprisingly in my wife's scrapbooking supplies :) Ahh, the joys of using a hot glue gun :)8-axis B1900D throttlehttp://pookiedom.com/b1900d/images/100-0006_IMG.JPGThrottle in "full maintenance mode" :-lolhttp://pookiedom.com/b1900d/images/100-0005_IMG.jpgFlap lever detail (without knob)http://pookiedom.com/b1900d/images/100-0001_IMG.JPGYou can see a few more pictures and the plans at http://pookiedom.com/b1900dComments and questions welcomed :)
January 21, 200422 yr beautifull, pookie.... and nice to see someone sensible enough to be making a throttle quadrant that includes prop controls!Richard
January 21, 200422 yr Great work Chris. I noticed your flaps pot doesn't have much rotation on it. Are you getting enough resolution with it?-Leo
January 21, 200422 yr Regarding flap lever resolution; Yes, I calibrated this axis and was able to get full 0-100% resolution after calibration (even though I probably only move the lever an inch or two, which is probably something like 45 degrees on the pot). Then, using FSUIPC I set the flaps for the B1900D. The flap lever is actually the one lever that works the best. I luckily messed up in cutting the groove for this lever and there's a narrow spot right where the lever has to stop for approach flaps (20 degrees on my throttle, but I think 17 degrees in real life). Had I known this would happen I would've done this on all the grooves so there's a little stop prior to engaging REVERSE or IDLE CUTOFF. Maybe I can add a little something using glue so that I have to force the levers past this stop. Hey, thanks for the idea :)
January 21, 200422 yr Richard,You right. Tendency with cockpit builders goes i.m.h.o. too much in direction FMS/FMC/CDU/FCU/MCP, in one word everything commanded by the board computer and not by the pilot. Turboprop freaks like me are very few, but they must ignore how much sexy it is to handle a complex aircraft by hand. Would you let your computer handle a "complex" sexy girl ???Anyway, I must agree that the turboprops are still so poorly modelled in FS9. 99% of all aircraft, either free or payware do not handle the props properly in all way. Flight dynamics, sounds ( so bad) and much more...Almost every day you can find on Avsim a so called realistic turboprop sounds. But when using them and sliding the prop controls, nothing happens. There is only one aircraft, Dash8 by O.Frolov which is almost perfect but rewritten from scratch (one gauge doing everything) but only accessible by mouse or by Epic codes. But I wont invest 1000$ for an Epic card although yet you can find excellent alternatives for 10 times cheaper. Would be interested to know how many Turboprop freaks are out there and share some ideas.RegardsRoger
January 21, 200422 yr On my genuine Short 360 throttle quad, I do have two stops. One is called flight idle, and the second is ground idle, then comes the reverser. But be aware that in all turboprops with reverser, the idle position is already a light reverse position, in fact the props are at -3
January 21, 200422 yr This is GREAT!It's amazing how many ideas and solutions came to mind when I saw this. I have been lying awake at night trying to figure out how to connect the pots to the handles AND get an autothrottle to work. Your pics gave me the answer. Love the idea of the hobby store to get gears (other posting) and using stuff around the house!Great job!

Please enlighten the rest of us!? have been thinking around the auto throttles for ages. ;-)Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
January 21, 200422 yr Looks cool, I always kept from working in wood, cause I felt it would'nt look good enough. But you have proven me wrong there..RegardsPeter
January 21, 200422 yr Regarding working with wood; The curved cover is actually NOT wood, but it looks very real with two coats of black spray paint and two coats of clear satin finish. The cover is actually ... are you ready for this ... cut from one of those carboard tubes you stick in the ground to fill with concrete to make fence posts. Yep, that's right, it's cardboard, BUT it's very rigid and has a plastic coating on the inside. I cut the grooves with a jigsaw and a metal cutting blade to get the smooth edges. These cardboard tubes come in various diameters. You know, you can also buy paint that has some texture in it so the smooth wood will look more like "airplane plastic".
