March 17, 200422 yr Hello, Can somebody tell me how weld or make firmly hold a wire coming from a small cable (which has a very small section) on the leg of a LED? Do there exist thimbles for such fine wire? Because it is very hard to weld... Thank you in advance for your ideas or suggestions.
March 17, 200422 yr Solding is the best way, need some practice, may be a solder-device with temp set function, small section solding-wire, a stand with to "third hands" and a magnifier.put the wire and the LED-wire along parallele, the sold maschine under, the sold-wire a fraction of second on it and that's it ...I've sold lots of 3mm LED's on 0.25mm2 wire without problems, I use thermorectactable protection (to insert before solding of course :-) )BOB
March 23, 200422 yr Tin the wire before you attempt to solder it, and put a bit of flux on it. Make sure you have a bit of solder on the iron before you go to solder. Then hold the wire still against the work that you are soldering to. Touching the iron to the work for just a second or two should provide a good solder joint. For small wires you don't need to actually place a strand of solder against the work if you have the flux and a dab of solder on the iron - it should wick right on to the work and cool almost instantly.
