Convert to Cockpit

Featured Replies

Hey all,This past weekend, I took a 700 mile road trip to Philadelphia, PA to visit a guy I fly on-line with. While I was out there, on Ebay I found an old arcade game called 'Hard Drivin' and purchased it. Now that i have it in my possession, i'm having a real hard time deciding something. Should I keep the game 'as-is' OR convert it to a home cockpit for Flight Sim and how hard do you think it would be?Here are some pictures....http://sky.wspilots.com/Logo/harddrivin.jpg http://sky.wspilots.com/Logo/harddrivin1.jpghttp://sky.wspilots.com/Logo/harddrivin2.jpgAny thoughts would be helpful....And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, For there you have been and there you long to return...http://sky.wspilots.com/Logo/WSPilots.JPGhttp://www.WSPilots.com/

My opinion is to leave that as a driving game, unless you plan on sticking with one monitor? You would have to hack that shell up in order to add monitors to the sides it looks like. Could be more work than just finding an old shell somewhere and building from scratch.Dunno! :)

hello skydiver173if you like driving simlation too. It would be perfect to keep it as a driving sim. If you have no interest in driving sim at all, you should convert it to flight sim no matter how hard the work will be. Because this is what you LIKE.It would be great for NFS underground!Alkit

Depending on what type of aircraft you would like to model your flightdeck after is something you might want to consider. Besides a small single like a Cessna 172 for example, I think using that shell will cost you alot of trouble. If an airliner flightdeck is in your mind, think about the space required for a pedestal and the overhead. You'll probably need more width than what the shell can afford. Once you have your main panel and pedestal, or the dimensions to it, I think it'll be easier to build around your flightdeck rather than make it fit into something. Again this all depends on what type of project you are taking on. Airliner/Small Jet/Light-Twin/Generic flightdeck etc. Tell us more about your plan.

So what's the verdict Sky? Gonna hack it up, or leave it as part of your arcade collection!!! Do you collect pinball machines too?-Cage
