What kind of rotary does THIS?

Featured Replies

Hi all,I have a bunch of rotarys that put out the following code across three pins. There are three posts, with the center post being common. So with each turn, I get this:1 | 2========1 | 00 | 00 | 11 | 1I assume this is grey code(?) Will FSBUS read these switches or do I need some other kind? If so, can someone direct me to some documentation on how to program/connect them?As always, all advise is appreciated!

Looks like it's a grey code encoderGrey Code:==============Seq: A: B:1 0 02 0 13 1 14 1 0Binary Code:==============Seq: A: B:1 0 02 0 13 1 04 1 1

Gotcha... so I need REDEC in order to use this with FSBUS... is this correct? Is this a circuit I can buil (with my meager skills) or is it available commercially?How do I proceed?Thanks.

Hi MitchI have a similar rotary except mine is 00 at each detent...so goes 00, 01, 11, 10, 00. If yours is the same it will work well with REDEC.The circuit is pretty simple but tedious to build several on vero board. If you can get a pcb mass produced that would be best. Then you just fit 3 IC sockets and 3 IC's and you are finished!

Thanks...any particular IC's?

Hi MitchIf you send me your email I'll send you the REDEC pdf..The ic's are two 4011's and one 4066....each less than $1.CheersIan
