February 1, 200521 yr Anybody know how to seperate ATC from general engine noises etc?I cant hear a thing over my engines!TONY. U.K.
February 1, 200521 yr Goflight has a new module that will allow you to plug in a headset and hear your ATC on it while your engine, gear noises, etc come through your speakers. I got to hear one while at the Denver AVSIM conference last fall. It works pretty slick.
February 1, 200521 yr >Anybody know how to seperate ATC from general engine noises>etc?>I cant hear a thing over my engines! You can adjust the sound levels separately - pull back the engine noise relative to ATC sounds.//Tuomas
February 2, 200521 yr THANKS TUOMAS.How do I find the sound seperation controls? Are they in the PC, or on FS itself? Thanks.
February 2, 200521 yr >THANKS TUOMAS.>>How do I find the sound seperation controls? Are they in the>PC, or on FS itself?Uh, I dont have FS right here now, but it's Settings -> Sounds or something, the same menu that has the graphics and atc and traffic settings. I am talking about the general Sound settings of FS - there's "Air traffic control" volume slider IIRC among all the other sound volume sliders.//Tuomas
February 2, 200521 yr If you flight on the net with IVAO for example the ATC come from Teamspeak programm in the option you can set another sound output to separate the sounds. What about Esound from Pete Dowson ? I know you can assign the output but I beleive only for the sound of the addon and not for the basic FS sounds ...?BOB
February 6, 200521 yr Ahh, would love to have the possibility of a separate set of speakers behind me for the engine and main gears sounds, and another set in front of me for the wind and other sounds. In addition to pmSounds of course. Is it possible? All the best,Ole J. Almenningenhttp://www.737cockpit.no
February 6, 200521 yr What we did on our cessna sim is we used the "kxdriver" for our SBLive to have software lowpass and highpass filters that splits the audio signal - low frequencies go to the seat speaker that rumbles the pilots' and copilots butt - and high frequencies go to the small "matchbox"-sized PC speakers mounted on top right and left corners of the cockpit behind the pilots. This works reasonably well, as wind plus ATC etc split pretty well by frequency - and the low rumbles come from "below" where it makes pretty much sense. Not perfect, but works quite well in practice. To get only ATC from your headphones, I suggest flying online in either IVAO or Vatsim (www.vatsim.net) where you get real people doing ATC - much better than the pretty limited ATC of FS itself. While FS's atc is no doubt impressive as a programmed feature, it has some limits that tend to annoy a lot especially if you happen to fly a slower plane to bigger airports with airliner traffic as well (I guess many can relate to that :-) "Cessna seven five three three, cleared to land" .. "Delta 123 Heavy, cleared to land, follow the Cessna Skylane on ten mile final.." ... eep.. :))VATSIM or IVAO can add a lot to the simulated experience, I used to fly in vatsim to polish my RTC skills for my PPL, it was pretty helpful.//Tuomas
February 11, 200521 yr I have a SB Audigy 2 Platinum in my main FS computer. I found an older computer I used a while back and stripped it of its old SB Live! Value sound card. I put it in the new tower, added the drivers for it and it works well. My main speakers (the 7.1 surround) is hooked to the Audigy 2 card and is set as my default speakers in windows. FS uses the windows default speakers as its mains. Using VATSIM, myself, I setup AVC so that it uses the second SB Live card. With 2 audio splitters (Wal*Mart for $3 - get 2 - 1 for Captain, other for FO), 4 extension cords for 3.5mm jacks and 2 headsets, I have a setup that, when I get my MIP together, I have a place to "jack in" when i get in the cockpit. When I have an FO, they jack in on their side. My computer sees the 2 headsets as 1 with no conflict. When either my FO or I press the PTT, the voice program hears both of us, so split comms isn't possible, but hard to imitate in FS anyway.Just my 2 cents. Aaron
