Motion Platform

Featured Replies

Arthur,I have seen this project before on the net, and Sydney is only about 1,200klms away from me in Australia. This is a high cost project and way out of my league, but next time I'm in Sydney, I will contact Matthew and go visit his sim.But meanwhile, still want a simple home solution.I think I'm leaning more and more to the simcraft for simplicity.David

The way I see it motion platforms are not that neccesary if it was me I

Those considering building their own motion platforms, check this website http://www.classicflight.co.uk/. They sell a set of electronics and motion software. regards, Johan

They sell a set>of electronics and motion software. >>regards, JohanThe cost is a bit prohibative. Costs over $1000 AUD just for the software and electronics, and if they build the platform for you, the price starts at $15,000 AUD.Not a hobby price range yet. They have a section on their site called build your own motion platform in which they don't actually tell you how to build your own motion platform. Don't figure.David

Then the base itself + the electric motors&drives + position sensors. But I think you can come well below 15000$ if you build it yourself. I haven't seen any other packages for builders, so I can't compare the price to anyting.Maybe this "ready set" could serv as comparison.http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=d...etails&pid=1299Johan

The motion platform from http://www.classicflight.co.uk can only handle a payload of 200KG. You need at least a motion base that can handle a payload of 2000KG.So if you are trying to build your own, you should be aware that the whole system should be very strong and very light. Boy Bruin

A flying colleague of mine, refers to the onboard toilet as a "motion platform"Sorry about the smut.Good luck in your endeavors.TONY, PLYMOUTH.
