Projection Problems!

Featured Replies

We have our flight deck nearly built up now, with the roof panel, the framing etc.....however we have a problem! :(Our projector was planned to sit on the overhead panel.....Our room is small, we have the length of the flight deck and about 3 feet (behind it), the front is about 1foot from the wall, our intended projection screen.....however we are having major issues with:1) The picture being FAR too small due to the distance of the projector from the screen2) The shape of the roof where the projector is sat (or was) doesnt allow the projector to propperly angle down enough to fill the lower portions of the front windows (ie, image is too high). Cant take it much higher due to the roof! With people building their sims in garages, rooms etc, I am sure others have had problems with this, getting the projected visuals large enough within the relativly small space availbile.Anyone have any suggestions? What distances are your projection screens from the front of the pit, and the projector also?Any help appreciated! :D

HiJust like you my room is quite small. So I have setup my projection like this:The projector is placed in front of the sim, and the projecting onto a mirror which then projects the image on the sceen. This give double didstance = larger image (wall2wall)The image gets quite distorted and mirrored, but this I correct with the NVIDIA keystone utillity. And I actually get a 98% straight image. Only the top edge is a bit curved which doesn't matter at all.And the relatively sharp angle enables the overhead to be there without getting in the way of the projection. The images are not accurate, they are simply to show the concept.http://www.vrmedialab.dk/~peters/simulator01.jpghttp://www.vrmedialab.dk/~peters/simulator02.jpghttp://www.vrmedialab.dk/~peters/simulator03.jpgBest regardsPeter Skotte

Hi Peter,Very good looking drawings.Could you tell me what you think of the performance when using Keystone ?When using Keystone I found that image gets less sharp and also you see mini-stutters.

Hi GerardThanks!Actually the only issue I have to say bothers me, is the fact the NV keystone does not work on video overlay (=fullscreen)... too bad.So I have to run FS in windowed mode and therefor loose the FAA, but its quite good despite of that.I have't expirenced stutters at all. Regarding the sharpness it is only present at a very small area of the projection, so I adjust the projector so the most unsharp area is at the very top where I never look anyway.BTW my graphics is the GeForce 5900 Ultra.regardsPeter

Hello guys,Here some older pics of my cockpit in progress.I use 6 21" monitors for windows. The shell is closed by now and the window bars will be real bars and not drawn on the screens. My dream is Wideview with 5 beamers, but even my living room is to small for that...... http://home.casema.nl/gsalden/pagina_8.htm http://home.casema.nl/gsalden/pagina_9.htmLuckily I can live my dream being the technical man of our fs club ( 6 beamers on very large projection screens ) :http://www.flightsim.no/cockpit/forum/viewtopic.php?t=613Happy flying,
