Guys,I tussling with a problem to get 3pci cards of the type above to work in FS9 along side the Parhelia.I know its possible because a poster indicated so on the Matrox Support site.Ive been unable to contact him.Windows recognises the cards alright and displays an extended desktop. The problem arises in FS9.Here Panels can be undocked and appear on their respective monitors but only while in windowed mode.Go back to full screen and they revert back to main screen.I think this maybe because FS9 does not recognise them.I think this is so because if i look in FS9 settings/display then only the Parhelia is listed.I have the latest drivers for this card and also tried to enter the card under Display in FS9.cfg.But FS just reports the message thate thesedrivers may stop fs9 from running properly when it starts FS.I have fitted another PCI card,aTNT64 Nvidea card(fairly old now) and it worked fine.Anybody got any bright suggestions.Look forward to your ideasThanksLes

For a PCI card (or any in general) to work with FS9 it must comply to ALL requirements (found at minimum req. on box). Else it might work but not in fullscreen (3D accelerated mode). If I were you, I'd stick to trying to contact the guy from the other site. He should know your missing link. It must be either drivers or some other setting that is wrong. If FS don't show your cards, then that's a good indication that the drivers are wrong. At least that's my thought. I had it such that FS did find the card but I had no access to changing any of the settings.

Hi Phillippe,Thanks for the comments.Nice to have someone reply.I struggled throughGerman to post to the Guy,so hope he replies.Thought i would try the windowed mode with the cards and i was pleasently surprised.Performance was as good as full screen. You can save the positions of extra panels. You dont have to put up with the menu barsand looking at my setup you would not know im in windowed mode.Xp has hide task bar.FS has hide Menuu and you just have to increase height of your pic ( using vert size adjustment) and you have what looks like Full Screen.Does not matter wheather or not FS sees your video card or not.I read that FS Team developers suggest this is the best mode of operation.Keep up the good work with your sim.Just because you have to store it somewhere temp, you can still makeup something to keep the candle burning.RgdsLes

Hi Les,Thanks :)Good to hear that it doesn't kill your FPS there with windowed mode. Must be that those matrox millenium PCI cards are quite something.I use the parhelia myself and I think it's quite sad to see that my old GeForce 2 Ti 500 is still more powerfull but hey .. nothing beats a 3 outside-vieuw setup, right ?I'm waiting for my exams to be finished to continue working on my PHCC setup and start testing that. So I'll keep buzzy though it will be more easy working again after I'm at the new house (wherever that might be).

Hi Yoss,Thanks for the link .Yes ive been keeping up with the wv site. This issuewith pci cards is a very funny one.You see plenty off advice but peopleomit to give full details. The guy i talked about in the above postreplied and confirmed he does operate in windowed mode.Ive tried a few cards and depending on which mode youre in and what card and what motherboard ect dictates how successful you are.For example i tried a SIS chipset pci card(cheap),it will only work properly if in primary video mode, but you cant turn off 3d acclerationcause FS thinks its your main card.Things like this drive you crazy. The guy i communicated with was a german fellow(FlightXpress)and it sounds like he tried many cards before he settled on the Matrox Mystqueor Millenium( 4mb).He found others gave some forms of stuttering. To anyone thats interested these cards come up on ebay for about US$5.Im running three of these at present Phillippe:Yes the Parhelia might not be the fastest but the extended view is far out.So much so that i now have 3 Parhelias, real estate is now running out, will have to shift house.Good to see you havent given up on your sim.Take Care Guys and your comments are always appreciated.Les

Les , i do use Parhelia in windowed mode alsow and thats doesnt bother me to muchAs to hardware acceleration-- i think u can turn that offTry this control panel-- display-- advanced---your sis card--troubleshoot--you will see slider therealsow add this to your FS9.cfg file:[DISPLAY.Device.Matrox Parhelia on Win2k/XP ]MipBias=8[0000102B:00000527:mtxparhd.dll] Disable=1 [0000102B:00000527:mtxparhd.dll.1] MinDriverRev=5.13.1.1172 Disable=2 TableFog=0 ( <-- this takes out the fog in the air when flying in VC )TriLinear=1TextureAGP=0PanelAsTexture=0Mode=3072x768x16Save your previous cfg before that so u can always return to the starting pointInform us if you had luck with that
