October 10, 200520 yr Can anyone tell me in plain language how to get ordinary photos of my sim onto the forum?I can scan them into my PC, but the file is always too big (over 1mb). Is there a trick to getting them down to 150kb? The shots are 15cm x 20cm, but I can reduce them if required. How physically small have they got to be to suit the requirments? The files are jpeg and if I have to convert that - I don't know how!! I am certainly a newbie in this area!Any help?TONY. U.K.
October 10, 200520 yr You should resize your pictures in resolution. What resolution do they have now?(Resolution is the dimension of a picture expressed in pixels, rather than in centimeters. You can find this by hovering your mouse over your picture in Windows Explorer)Tell me what dimension that is. The bigger, the bigger the filesize. You can resize it if you want with some freeware program, like IrfanView.Next, you can reduce the quality a bit. You can safely reduce the quality of the JPEG compression from 12 (lossles compression) to 8 (compression almost vissible) without too much loss of quality.I'm not sure if you can do this in IrfanView, but try.As last recommendation:utfsm, use Google. This has been explained over and over and over and over and over and over and over.....
October 12, 200520 yr you can set the resolution to 75 dpi for internet use(of course depend of the size of your picture)BOB
October 13, 200520 yr you do not need additional programs to do that.windows contains standard programs that can do the trick.for example Paintuse something like "resize" (and choose pixels)regardsNorberthttp://home.wanadoo.nl/norbert.bosch

October 14, 200520 yr How did you do the yokes' mechanism by the way? Can you show some pics of that? The handles look pretty nice too!//Tuomas
October 15, 200520 yr >How did you do the yokes' mechanism by the way? Can you show>some pics of that? The handles look pretty nice too!>>//Tuomas>Hi.Hope these shots come out - you might have to enlarge them!!The yolks are made from steel tubing, and the boxes on the top housing the Trim and Ptt switches are wooden with a ton of paint! The operating rod is chrome plated and moves a hihged box type arrangement that both slews side to side and or forwards and backwards. In doing this, a standard but modified for fixings joystick is operated. Drawer runners and strong elastic cord are also used This way the yolk movements are translated to the joystick. Left and right joysticks as well as pedals are switched with one rotary according to which pilot "has control". With FSUIPC, I can adjust things perfectly, and the elastic cords bring the stick to centre every time.If you want any more pics, I have some of rudder pedal construction as well as various shots of home made gearboxes for throttles etc.TONY.

October 22, 200520 yr Well, I have been trying to show you guy's what I have been doing. For the last month, still unable to send pictures, When I click on the choose attatchments, I get a page error , or nothing happens, I have read many threads on this subject nothing simple. We need a very simple tutorial, A to B. THANKS.
October 23, 200520 yr Lets try.1) "Click here to choose your attachments" below the message writing box2) You get a popup window (make sure you dont use a popup blocker tool)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/130755.jpg3) Choose file by clicking "Browse..."4) *Select file type* - this is important to get it right. JPEG on most cases. You can check the "Check this box if you wish to embed.." -checkbox if you want to add the images "in between" your text like on my example above - so you can comment in-between images.5) Click "Upload file!"6) Close the window once it is done, verify that you have the attachment visible on the "Attachment" section below the "type message here" -field.IF you get an error, it would be helpful to know what kind of an error it is? What does it say?//Tuomas
