March 13, 200620 yr Hello seasoned flight simmers! My name's Angel. (i'm a guy FYI)Here's the breakdown of what i currently have.A "schweet" laptop with FS9, and a large TV.My plans:1. Default FS9 panels to show fullscreen on laptop LCD.2. Exterior environment to display on "large" TV using s-video 7-pin to 3-RCA cable.3. Purchase CH's flight yoke, Pro pedals, and in the future, their new throttle quadrant.I want versatility. Fly the Cessna, and all other aircraft. If anyone can give me pieces of advice on the 3 essential goals for the setup; necessary add-on software for integration of components, like splitting into the two display devices, etc...Laptop specs:2Ghz processor128MB ATI video card1Gb Memory (will upgrade to 2Gb)THANK YOU!
March 13, 200620 yr You have to do step 2 before you can do step 1 and you'll have to re-adjust the panels each time unless you get the setup JUST right with the visuals. On your ATI card, you have to enable the second monitor. This is done by right-clicking on the desktop area, clicking properties menu, clicking settings tab in the window that pops up. On the upper area of the screen should show two monitors, one kinda greyed out with a 2 on it. This is your TV out. Click on it to highlight and the settings below will change to indicate the settings for that display. Check the button that says Extend my Windows Desktop onto this Monitor and drag it above the #1 montior so you have 2 on top of 1 (like first floor, second floor). Take the resolution slider and bring it up to 800x600 (standard video resolution for a TV output). With monitor 1 below monitor 2, load up flight simulator and go into the display settings options screen. Change the resolution to one of the odd-looking resolutions (not 1024x768 or 1280x960 or the like) to extend Flight Sim onto this other monitor. It should, by default, put your gauges on your laptop screen and your outside view on your TV. Aaron
March 13, 200620 yr The great thing about that is i don't need add-on software to split the two views. i'm very conservative about cramming my computer with stuff. so far this is the best coz it's simple. like the way i prefer it. thanks!any other opinions? i wanna compare and maybe even combine ideas to find the best approach!
