FSBUS NG HELP

Featured Replies

Hi guys i need some help. I have built the new com board and really am not sure what i am doing. My first question is can the new board flash the pics. I have built a servo board and am not sure if the new board is capable of doing this. If it isn't where can i get the data that i need to do this. 2nd question is does anyone know what position i need jumpers in on the com board for normal and program mode i can't find the info anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated.ThankyouPeter

Hi PeterIt's not possible to flash PIC microcontrollers with the NG board. You need the old com board for that. The ISP on the board is for flashing the Atmel's with software from Ponyprog. What jumpers you mean?Best regardsJan Geurtsen

Thanks Jan.I knew that would happen. Is there anywhere i can get the data for the PIC on the servo board. I have access to a programmer at work and i would rather do that then build a whole new board again. The jumpers i need to know about are on the com board. I am not sure about the connections on J8. Is there anything that has to be connected to this connection. ThankyouPeter

FSBUS classic:The data flashed to the pic on the stepper board are already in the router software. Flashing is only possible by the classic com board(not with the new com board)FsbusNG: athmels are flashed by ponyprog. You will need the hex files from the fsbus site.regardsNorberthttp://home.wanadoo.nl/norbert.bosch/

Sorry Guys but I am not sure you understand my problem completly. Where can i get the HEX file for the servo board I have looked all through the FSBUS site and the classic site. I have downloaded the FSSERVO file but i can not find any info there about the data to be put on the chip. Is there away of extracting the data from the router software so that i can program the chip on an external programmer. I would rather do this then build a whole new board which i will only use for programming.Does anyone know what position i need jumpers on the J8 connection. Thanks again GuysPeter

If you have a classic stepperboard then you will have to build a classic com too. Otherwise you can not flash it. There is no hex file for the stepper board because it is IN the router sw.So you have to built the classic com too (or buy one from people changing to NG), or wait till the stepperNG board is ready.regards Norbert

Hi Peter,Do a search on FSbus hex files.Their was someone who had dumped allfsbus pic files to individual hex files. The links are now dead but a PM to the poster may help.If you are stuck i could try and do a dump of my Fsservo pic and send to you.It would take afew days before i could do it .Maybe there is someone locally who could use their fsbus to flash yourpic.Id offer but i live in NZ.Hope this helpsLes

Peter,No jumpers are used on J8. That is for a ribbon cable to connect to the IO board for flashing the ATMega8535. It's a 6 pin ISP that connects to the 6 pin block on the IO board.Mike Murphy

Thanks MikeDoes this mean that there are no jumpers needed at all to run and to program what ID each board has. Thanks again Peter
