December 20, 200619 yr Hi guys Just wondering if the Vmax yoke that Avsim sells in their store is any good? I was looking at PFC yokes , but I here so many people having problems with hardware falures an such. Dave
December 21, 200619 yr Hi Dave,I use one in my sim. Very smooth movement. One issue that might be a negative, though it does not bother me, roll and pitch are spring loaded to return to center. On a positive note, pulling full aft on the yoke takes constant force to keep it there. Definately makes you develope good trim habit to give your arms a rest. I've had one maintenance issue in three years of use. One button wiring harness developed an intermittent fault. PFC, who makes the unit for VMAX, mailed me a new one at no cost.Hope this helps,Richard
December 21, 200619 yr Author Richard Thanks for the info sounds like a good unit only thing though does it come with a throttle? I've tried to locate an email address at the avsim store to try get more info on the unit , but can't seem to find one yet.You say PFC makes the unit maybe I'll contact them as well all though they would have nothing to do with how avsim is selling the unit. Dave
December 21, 200619 yr Author Richard I forgot to ask is the hat switch on the right side also 4,or 8 way hat switch ? Thanks Dave
December 22, 200619 yr Hi Dave,From what I remember, Marty Arant runs the Avsim store. His email is: [email protected] . Maybe he is out for Christmas and New Years.Unit does not come with a throttle. I use a GoFlight TQ6. No standard hat switch. On each yoke handle is a push button switch and dual 2-way rocker switches. I use the left push button for comm transmissions with VoxAtc. The right push button and rockers I have assigned to view commands via FSUIPC. Push button is forward view, rockers are right-forward, right, left-forward, and left. That sort of limits your viewing range but most pilots don't get to see 360 degrees around their aircraft.Merry Christmas,Richard
December 22, 200619 yr Author Thanks Richard I'll drop Marty an email. I guess companys like to keep the yokes as real as possible i.e no hat switch oh well anyway thanks again for the information and have good Christmas and a happy new year. Dave
