New builder (generic)

I love the ZOOM rocker switch!

Thanks for your interest in my site and my cockpit. And first, excuse me for my bad english !My cockpit will be generic, so i would be able to fly with a lot of single motor aircrafts, amphibious or not.I am making it to learn a lot of things, but in the future, i want to build a "true" cockpit, like a real aircraft. It's a trial today !My hole in panel is a bit deep, but i can put in front of it encoders, to change QNH for example.Your idea for acetate is good to provent dust form going into the mail panel, but it is a problem for the encoders (see above). However, i can put it in PVC pipes !I will think about it.And for the cooling, i already thought about it. I will put some fans in main panel, which be regulate with AKASA fan control. Not vera realistic but very useful !When it is possible, could you send pictures of yours ? Thanks.Philippe

I'm still planning mine. I've got quite a few drawings but not dimensions so I'm on the hunt for those elusive measurements. One of my main design elements is the Sound System. Building a amphibious/float the floats kick up quite a but of noise when taking off and landing. Like a boat. The floats make more noise when going slower then faster. I want to build a sound system into the floor of the cockpit and run the duel controls forward for rudder and yoke (leaving room for speakers and wiring underneath). I'm also hoping to engineer a way to have functional setting controls for the virtual gauges. It would be cool to get some motion into the sim but that's a project for the next one perhaps. I'm hoping the sound and vibration will be enough from the 6 speakers I'm hoping to put in for the landing struts. They will also have sounds for hard surface landing as well (amphibious). I do have a compressor but don't think it would be powerful enough to do very much in the way of motion (while in the air) but while on the surface it could be useful for hard bumps in water or on a surface tarmac. I was in a real Airbus Sim once and those tiny bumps as you roll over the surface stuck with me. I felt quite immersed in the cockpit when that was happening. If you can get more the one sense happening at once it tricks the brain into believing you are actual there. It's pretty extraordinary. So I've yet to build my floor. Now my significant other is bocking a bit on the idea about the room I want to use for the sim so I may need to find a different home (for the sim) not her LOL. She is not a plane person. despite my efforts to convince her.I'll be keeping an eye on yours and I'll start a new thread when I've got some good drawings. I'd love to put the sim up on struts. The more I suspend though the more I have to move when adding vibration in. Then there is the hiding of stuff. It's not an airplane after all it's a sim. So all that other stuff may make the real plane sim barrier harder to hide.

It will be a great cockpit !!!My wife is not a plane person too ! She doesn't like when i go flying in a real ultralight ! But she is ok for a sim cockpit in house (i have a big house :( ).I will wait for your pictures and your own thread.Good luck.Philippe

Well, there' a good idea for Ronson: If you do some real flights, then maybe your wife will like the simulator more and then you won't have to move it.
