Currently in Mohave, CA, the five former Air Canada Boeing 767-200s will be purchased outright by the Romulus-based carrier. The following is an excerpt from the contract signed by both parties: Total $8,750,000.00 USD non-financed for outright purchase of five (5) ex-AirCanada Boeing 767-233 passenger (PAX) airliners (SN#'s 22522, 22523, 22524,22525 & 22526) including engines, spares, and any/all materials directly associatedwith each individual aircraft as currently advertised for sale and in storage withFlight Test Associates, Inc. in Mojave, California. Operating scheduled passenger service for a little under a year and a half, the addition of these widebody airframes mark a significant milestone for the carrier which is now able to effectively serve the west coast and beyond. Reportedly offering a sum of $7.5 million USD initially, the two airlines came to terms at a final sum of $8.75 M. Acquisition of these aircraft coincides with the airline's decision to sublease its sole Boeing 737-500 aircraft to Keystone Airways of Philadelphia. Explains Fleet Director Tom Collins, "we've opted to make a dramatic change in our growth strategy in favor of a higher-capacity, longer-range route structure." Keystone intends to take delivery of the 737 jet later this evening in a welcoming ceremony at Philadelphia International Airport.Despite the departure of the 737-500 from MetroAir's fleet, the carrier continues to serve a solid national and regional route network which will be enhanced by the new twin-aisle 767s.
