The carrier's CEO and Founder Mark McCoy was quick to explain to the press the significance of this step:"The acquisition of the state-of-the-art 737-700s indicates MetroAir's shift of position in the market from a fledgling carrier operating whichever aircraft we could afford, towards an airline that is stepping up its game as a strong force in a wider market. Operating a larger route network with a fleet that offers greater dispatch reliability and fuel efficiency enables us to achieve the ambitious goals we have set before us in becoming not only the principal low-cost operator out of Detroit but eventually a dominant carrier in the Northeast and beyond. The aircraft are going to be deployed on many of MetroAir's principal high-yield routes that require high levels of service, as well as some exciting new destinations that up till now were out of reach of the older 737-200s and could not sustain service using their larger 767-200s. Chief Operating Officer Tom Collins:"Until now we've been missing out on a vital market that sits between our mainline east-coast services and our longer haul large volume routes operated by the 767s. I'm also delighted to say that we've run the number time and time again, and we can see this aircraft becoming the future backbone of our fleet. Northwest, here we come!"http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c36/tomc..._scrn_white.jpg-------------------------For more news and pilot information regarding this, click here:http://www.metroairvirtual.com/forums/index.php?topic=1373.0
