TexAir Seeking Webmaster

Due to a major change to our pirep service provider, TexAir will discontinue use of the VAFS3 system as of March 31, 2008. We have been researching new PHP-based systems and have settled on the Virtual Admin II system, which we have been trying desperately to install successfully. Though much to our disappointment, the system cannot seem to be installed under our very limited PHP experience. Furthermore, it was also decided that this would be a great time to break away from our former HTML-only website and step up to something more modern and advanced. I currently serve as the acting Webmaster, but due to my limitations in PHP and other script as well as personal time, I cannot tackle this project alone. We cannot offer any form of real compensation, however the position will be considered administrative staff with all the perks. Qualifications - Must be able to check and respond to email on a daily basis, preferrably more often. - Must be able to troubleshoot and fix problems within a quick amount of time (24 hours or less preferrably). - Must be able to work within the limitations of VA Hangar web hosting (PHP/MySQL enabled). - Must have a good knowledge of HTML, PHP, and MySQL (other codes/langauges a plus). - Must be able to provide functional evidence of previous and/or current work. - Previous virtual airline experience preferred (pilot and/or website). - Must be able to provide external features neccesary to complete the work. What We Want/Need - A dynamic, user-friendly, and fully functional website that has modern looks themed around the airline, preferrably with "real airline" feel & features. - Installation and maintinence of either the Virtual Admin II system or a custom-made system (can be PHP, ACARS, or both). - Maintinence of pilot, staff, & airline information, including but not limited to VATSIM memberships and relations. - Possibly a Pilot Training & Testing Center. - Full freedom of creativity under approval of the staff. - Flexibility to create and/or change things as requested by staff. - Membership/Ability to upload our aircraft to Avsim.
