Thinking Of Opening A VA

Featured Replies

Hi,i am thinking of opening a Virtual Airline that is based within the uk. I want to open a real airline but in virtual terms, can anyone help with an airline thats based in the uk that does not have a VA attached to it?cheers

say what?. you mean you want to create a VA based on a real carrier?. thats simple. altho i would suggest having a name that includes "VA" in it so your not mistaken for the real carrier. like if you had a name like EasyJet Airlines, you should have it something like EasyJet Virtual, or EasyJet Virtual Airlines. however keep in mind using a real world carriers name and logo can lead to legal troubles if you dont do it right. many airlines dont like people using theyre name and logo. EasyJet is one of them. only on a rare occasion will they let you use theyre stuff. so if your going to create a VA based on a real carrier i would suggest contacting them and ASKING if you could use this. dont write them or call them demanding anything. there have been a few people around here who for some reason or another thought that the airline had to let them use theyre material and started demanding them to let them. imagine how they felt the day they went to court :)so just remember there are risks when creating a VA based on a real carrier. hell i started a Cubana Virtual which was based on Cubana de Aviacion which is a cuban carrier and even they asked us to shut it down.and about using "Airline" in the VA name. some real world carriers will let you use theyre name as long as you keep the word "Airline" itself out of the VA's name. so using "Virtual" would be best instead of "Virtual Airline". one example of a carrier that does this is Southwest Airlines.Also. before you create any type of VA i would suggest joining one of the big VA's and learn how a VA operates. move up in the ranks, try applying for different positions and learning how they work and then when you feel confident that you know enough of how a VA is run then create one. this is how many of the big VA's got started and knowing how to run your organization will almost guarantee your VA's survival. remember. at first youll be running the entire thing on your own untill you start hiring staff members so it is really important you learn all aspects of a VA, from recruiting all the way up to creating a schedule (if your not using the real carriers schedule). the more you know, the more enjoyable itll be not only for you but for your pilots aswell

I am the current owner of "easyjetvirtual.co.uk"This domain name was chosen as it easy to remember. I even had permission from easyJet Airline Company Limited to operate a VA with their approval. However, they objected to the domain name I chose (it was actually easyGroup that objected) and at no time in the consultation stage was any such concern ever mentioned. If you intend to operate a VA based on a REAL-world Airline I would HIGHLY recommend visiting an IT lawyer and asking them to approach the Airline concerned, on your behalf. This initial request is quite cheap (about
