March 6, 200521 yr This will probably attract the replys of join my VA etc etc etc But I am after a specific VA type and nothing else. What I am looking for is a VA based in New Zealand that flies the routes of Air New Zealand. I found one but it is outdated and poorly run so I want to know if there is a Air New Zealand VA out there! Thanks for the input!BJ
March 6, 200521 yr I'm not sure of many NZ specific ones, but the ones I've seen for ANZ I have not really tried because as you said - they are not updated often.Airsource.us (?) you can fly all over the world, including the routes used by air new zealand. Good thing about it is that it remembers where you last flew if you wish to fly that way. - Note I am no longer a member there - let my membership lapse :(A couple of other airlines fly the main routes - but not the smaller planes. VA's such as Qantas - Livewire, nobel air. (can't remember all their urls)Another good place to check is the VA Connection- http://207.127.218.107/ and enter either air new zealand, or a new zealand airport.Hope this helps.
March 6, 200521 yr Thanks for the helpI found a really good looking small VA based called Kiwi Air that seems to have what I am looking for for small planes. But really am looking for something that mimics the Local Airline Air New Zealand, the one I know of has schedules about 3 years out of date and looks like it has not been updated since 2002 as well.Qantas is Australian and dont fly in New Zealand other than 737-300s between the 3 main centres! Nobel and Livewire are not what I am looking for and dont impress me.Theres seems to be plenty of VAs that have hubs all over the place but these dont impress me! And theres plenty of Australian VAs and a lot of confused people who think that New Zealand and Australia are the same place! A bit like saying Canada is part of the United States etc... Differant goverments and flags :)I will check out Airsource if you have the link? I have heard of them before so may be the only hope for flying NZ callsigns.
March 6, 200521 yr Heres the url here.http://www.air-source.us/They fly all over the world - not sure how current their time table is.I've often though of starting a NZ based one - using the routes of ANZ and origin pacific - but I don't think there is really a demand for NZ airlines.
March 7, 200521 yr Thanks for the link :)New Zealand is a small country with just over 4 million people and some fantastic freeware developers have enhanced it really well! I guess you got to live here to appriciate what there is?Be a very small VA if you relied on Origin Pacific Routes :)lol every time I look at there schedules they get smaller and smaller where as ANZ is expanding its international destinations. If you can get a ANZ Va off the ground flying ANZ routes which is up to date and has a good pirep system you may be surprised at the interest.
March 7, 200521 yr If I made one, it wouldn't be called Air New Zealand - not worth the hassle to try and get permission, and then you are bound by exactly what they fly etc.But a number of things have also stopped me - can't paint planes, don't want to put in a ton of hours to build up a va when there are enough others out there. As a New Zealander about to emigrate to Aussie - I also don't have the time :)
March 7, 200521 yr http://www.brooman.plus.com/INVICTAJETVA/I...paxsched2v1.htmNew Zealand Pacific. But knowing our luck we are one who you think are out of date.We are just introducing new routes with 4 x 737-700's and hopefully Emb 170's.I hope that helpsSonic BroomboyInvictajet.co.uk
March 7, 200521 yr Sorry Mate you missed my point in the original post!I am after a New Zealand Based VA! Not one that has hubs all over the world! Not one that concentrates on Heavy Irons all the time!I would like to Fly the Koru but there is no VA out there that matches that quality! Like I said the one I did found has schedules over 3 years old and a website that says copyright 2002 which suggests to me its just there for the sake of it!Air Source has got the Air New Zealand schedules and is upto date on what I have seen. Also I have found a VA now that suits my desire to fly VFR in New Zealand and it looks like a forward thinking VA called Kiwi Air.I dont mean to be rude so unless its New Zealand based or flies the Koru I am not interested.BJ
March 8, 200521 yr have you thought of starting one yourself?I'm guessing you could easily say that you use air new zealand schedule, but not actually be them.Personally for a NZ Va - I would want to mirror both origin pacific, air new zealand, and then have a charter one as well.I've got a great idea for a charter based system where pilots get `paid` - could be used with normal flights as well I guess.
March 8, 200521 yr Had thought about it! Just like you said have not got the time, running a VA and flying for one are two differant things. If I ran a VA probably would spend more time doing that than flying routes. Also I think that without a automatic pirep system or some gizzmo it will just be another VA!Thing is something has got to be better than the so called other ANZ VA out there who have a misson it seems to destroy any attempts to start another one and fill the hole there neglecting.Shame ANZ is not part of one world because I think the Qantas VA thats just come into being would be something along the lines for ANZ!Irony of it is Qantas would have left oneworld if the ANZ merger had gone ahead.

March 8, 200521 yr Its based in Auckland.....a subsidery of ours, flying 737-700's and B1900D's. You were'nt being rude my friend, you just can't read properly! LOLSonic BroomboyInvictajet.co.uk
March 8, 200521 yr LOL...That works two ways dont it ;)Original post said"What I am looking for is a VA based in New Zealand that flies the routes of Air New Zealand. I found one but it is outdated and poorly run so I want to know if there is a Air New Zealand VA out there!"Keywords there "Based" and "Air New Zealand" Looking at Invicta and 737-700 well ANZ dont operate and the only other Aircraft is the Beech 1900! So will be kind off wasted flying ANZ liverys with just the Beech in that outfit! Do you have any New Zealanders in your VA? Who give any input? One thing to be said about Virtual Air New zealand which I assume is the VA being refered to is at least its Run by New Zealanders who know about there Airline.Mr Bjbear, There is someone planning to start a New Virtual Air New Zealand who either was or is part of the dead VA in question? I cant say much more than that but will send you a PM for the person to contact. He lives in NZ and works for ANZ so knows his stuff.Surprised no one else hijacked this thread with come join me our VA is the best :)
March 8, 200521 yr Ah yes - I was way surprised it wasn't hijacked :)Good to hear there is a new one in the process of being made.Someone mentioned a new Qantas one - any one got the url? I've just joined the current Qantas one - but find most of the site is quite antiquated, and filling out is rather different.
March 9, 200521 yr You mean this linkhttp://cpavirtual.org/qantas/:)Looking forward to seeing the New Air New Zealand VA when and if it appears. Wont feel so lost flying the wonderful repaints of Air New Zealands fleet.
