Is there still a Fedex VA?

Featured Replies

Greets...Did a search here on the forums and came up with a couple of links that are no longer active.Does anyone know if there's a Fedex VA still around? I see the UPS one is going strong, but would love to see one for this other major cargo carrier. If you have any links or information, please post!

I think their lawyers took it down.

>I think their lawyers took it down.Ahhh, drag. What happened?

legally its BS but FedEx said the VA was using their copywrited name without permission

Alex:Thanks for the info. Total shame as it would have been a great cargo-oriented VA. Much obliged!

Yeah, but could you imagine the besmirching the FEDEX name could come under if one of the VA aircraft crashed? I'm sure you know how wide ranging the interest is and how much under the public eye VA's are. Rather than just give their permission to use the name, FEDEX had to close it down or they could suffer dire consequences.

Aye I believe UPSVAC made it through because they added "VAC" to their name and even added the "VAC" to the logos, and also made easily viewable the disclaimers stating that they were not affiliated with the actual UPS.Not sure though about the permissions part on UPS as I am no longer a member there (no time for multiple VA's) and thus I have no more access to their forums.

Thanks very much for all the info, all.

FedEx's lawyers are charting new territory and claiming that "any" use of their logo and name is restricted, which is ridiculous. As I said on the free livery topic that has grown in size, the current trademark laws do not restrict the use of logos for "fun" and as long as no money is being made, there is no legal basis for their claims except they have expensive bored lawyers willing to fight a battle with you over such nonsense.

You would think, with all the problems that airlines are having today , making a buck, that their lawyers would have better things to do than hassle VA pilots....... Maybe that's why their profits are in the tank.... "poor management".......

Agreed. That sucks. You'd think the airlines would WANT us to promote them. Really that is what VA's are - "fan clubs" for the actual airline. You can't have admirers by punishing them for being like you.I know a lady who dressed as an extremely sexy Fed Ex/Kinkos girl for Halloween this year . . . wonder if she'd get nailed for using their logo . . .

What about a VA run by an actual airline. Wouldn't that be cool and a great promotion? I wonder why no real-life airline ever thought of that? They have the knowledge, they have the timetables, dispatch, procedures, manuals...and web designers. Just imagine a major airline not only endorsing, but running a VA.Gosh, I would even pay a monthly fee for this...

Maybe a small carrier like GLA would have a couple of employees that would do such a venture. it would be sweet. In the meantime I love my VA's . . . Spectrum Air International and Delta VA.

I may be halucinating here, but wasn't one of the United VA's a while back directly affiliated with the real airline. If I remember correctly, it was some of the employees that ran the VA.I could be wrong. This was during a very brief period where I was considering joining a VA, and I might not have my facts straight.Tim13

I know El Al's VA had some real pilots come by a while ago, or maybe I am mistaken too!
