September 20, 200223 yr Could someone who uses Windows 98 but does NOT have FALCON 4installed send me a copy of their msvcrt.dll file. I installed FALCON 4 and it installed a new MSVCRT.DLL file. It seems to cause conflicts with FS and [email protected]
September 20, 200223 yr Be careful replacing this file. It is one of the most often updated files, and the version you need could very well be specific to other installed software and updates on your system. You can extract it from your Windows 98 CD or from your .cab files as well. I'd first search your hard drive for other versions.Microsoft also has some downloads which update this file (It is the Visual C runtime .dll, btw). You might want to search their site to get the correct and most current version.I am surprised Falcon 4 updated it directly. Usually custom versions of this dll are always found in local program folders, but I know some other older programs did replace it, and caused problems.-John
September 20, 200223 yr Jim - As you probably know, there are many versions of this file around. If the problem is with FS2002, you might want to consider reloading it from CD#1. You can find it in the DIRECTX.cab file in the DIRECTX folder. This will, at least, ensure that you have the DX8 version of the file.Trip
September 20, 200223 yr Thanks for the info. I replaced the file with the one from FS2000.Hopefully this will work. Thank god I still remember how to use DOScommands. Oh well if all else fails, FORMAT C.JimCYWG
September 20, 200223 yr At least you still have DOS :-) . Those of us with XP are stuck with a "DOS Emulation" thingie that doesn't act the same way at all. Progress indeed! Snort! (That's why I kept Win98 also - very handy at times).Trip
