October 15, 200223 yr Author Commercial Member Well, captain, it's pretty much a matter of finding a graphics program you're comfortable with and then applying a little creativity. I use Adobe Illustrator for line art like simple logos, and Adobe Photoshop for doing more complex work and for creating paint schemes. However, those are both professional high-end graphics programs, and they cost quite a bit. A good choice if you just want to noodle around with graphics and try some things out is Adobe PhotoDeluxe or Jasc PaintShop Pro. They're much less expensive and contain many of the features found in the more expensive softare packages. If you want to go the absolutely free route, you can try using a program called GIMP (http://www.gimp.org)-- it's basically a pretty decent graphics editor that was originally for Linux, but has been ported for Windows. As far as I know, it's free.As for the creative side, that's a bit harder. My advice if you've never done a logo before is to find a few that you like, and ask yourself what you like about them. Then try and think of a neat idea that matches the concept you want to illustrate and use some of the techniques used in those logos you like. I know that's a little vague, but bear in mind that some people spend a lifetime becoming truly proficient logo designers, so you have to give it some time.hope that helps!
