ProController Sector Files

Featured Replies

Since the SB and PC forum doesn't seem to be getting much traffic, I decided to post my question here.Is there a freeware program out there that could help me generate a new sector file for Detroit Approach? If so, where can I download this program? If there isn't such a program... how can I create a sector file? Thanks, Andrew Heath[a href=http://www.duncanfuller.com/d21tracon/]Detroit TRACON[/a]THE RED WINGS RULE!http://www.avsim.com/ffg/public/andrew_heath/banner1.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/ffg/public/andrew_heath/banner2.jpg

It's been a while since I made a sector file so things may have improved since. The SCT files are plain text and can be altered in any good text editor. The best thing to do is open an existing sector file and study it, together with the PC tutorial which describes how to complete each section of the SCT file. With the simple language of the SCT files it would not be to difficult to write a front end graphic tool to assist design but I've not heard of one - it may still be a manual (and slow) task.It may be worth waiting until the replacement program for PC is out as this may have updated sector areas included.

It (ASRC, the next gen radar client) won't have new sectors built in, but there is a project called GndMaker which is in-the-works which will do what you wish when it's released (which should be by the time ASRC is out).Regards,--M

Trust me, it can be done by hand - our current ZAB 4.0 sector is almost totally handcoded by myself and our AC Doug Hart. I got all the fixes, VOR's etc from airnav.com and the DAFIF file and entered em in by hand. Same goes for airways and the DPs/STAR. Doug did the MVA boundaries using a topo map...The only things that weren't handcoded are the ARTCC boundaries and the restricted area boundaries, both of which were done with a beta version of GNDmaker...Our 5.0 sector is in testing now, is ASRC compliant and contains airport diagrams built into the center file with GNDmaker.Ryan
