Virtual Cockpit and Pan Rate.

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,With the virtual cockpit becoming more and more popular you may find a need to change the pan rate of FS2002 POV. With notepad, Open "FS2002.cfg" that you will find in the FS2002 folder.Under the controls heading, find the entry PAN_RATE={CONTROLS}something ......somethingPAN_RATE=70 Big numbers make it fast and small numbers make it slow.Bob

Hi Bob,Would you (or anyone) know of a way to pan around the VC using the mouse? Similar to using "mouse look" in FPS games? Thanks, Kenny B
Pan Rate
Hi..I can understand about changing the pan rate.. but do you wish to pan slower or faster? By `panning' do you mean rotating the camera around in azimuth.. or translating it linearly with the arrow keys??Please expand on this interesting concept..!!Cheers...

Theres a wonderful module called "Active Camera Pro" around that does just that, plus more! You have to check it out, I consider it an absolute must. The current version is 1.03 I think, and its free and you can get it right here from AvSim!Enjoy, cya

Yes, but Active Camera Pro requires me to hold down the mouse wheel to pan. This is kind of awkward for me. Is there a way to change it to pan without holding down the wheel? Even using the right click button would be better than the wheel.

Kenny,Simply press the F12 key (ToggleMouseLook command) or edit the activecamerapro.cfg if you want another key combination. Here are the default key assignments : ToggleMouseLook=MOUSE_BUTTON_2,DOUBLEToggleMouseLook=F12ToggleHeadLatency=F7,CONTROLToggleGroundTurbulence=F8,CONTROLPilotForward=NUMPAD_8,DOUBLEPilotBackward=NUMPAD_2,DOUBLEPilotStepRight=NUMPAD_6,DOUBLEPilotStepLeft=NUMPAD_4,DOUBLEPilotHeadRight=NUMPAD_9,DOUBLEPilotHeadLeft=NUMPAD_7,DOUBLEPilotHeadUp=PAGE_UP,CONTROL,DOUBLEPilotHeadDown=PAGE_DOWN,CONTROL,DOUBLEPilotCrouch=NUMPAD_0,DOUBLEPilotUp=HOME,CONTROL,DOUBLEPilotDown=END,CONTROL,DOUBLESerge BAYEwww.anticyclone.be

Anticyclone,Question about ActiveCamera Pro: - is it a limitation of FS that the movement while panning with the mouse in the VC is constrained to only as far as the pointer can travel before hitting the edge of the screen? When you use mouselook in an FPS game, (UT2003 for example) there's no limit to the movement - you can pick the mouse up, reposition it, and keep right on turning - with ACP you have to let go of the middle button, move the pointer away from the edge and then start panning again? Would there be any way to make the panning work more like it does in shooter games? Thanks,Ryan
