More information about your computer would help. What make, model, original OS unless always WinXP Home, see the minimum requirements sticky at the top of this forum for more info. Did this problem just start or has it been occurring since you owned the computer? As far as data, do you have more than one partition on you hardrive, e.g., c:, d:, e:? If so move your data to a the partition other than the one with Windows. You can also use WinXP data transfer for storing your email, favorites, etc.If you do a WinXP recover, you should only repair any problem files. A complete reinstall will probably overwrite all your present settings. I am wondering if you may be having problems via the RAM.
