Hi there,I recently got a new system and winxp home. As I am still kinda new to XP I was wondering if the shared irq's are something I should fix?I don't have big problems with the exception of crackling sound every now and then and a USB port that falls asleep on me occationally. I was wondering if the shared irq's cause these isssues? Can anyone help/recommend me changing those irq's in the bios? I've never changed irq's (only minor things like AGP, shadow enabling etc.) but never messed with irq's. What are the do's and don'ts changing irq's?Thanks in advance,PeteP.S. Peter,If the system is stable, don't mess with hardware interrupts (IRQ's.) You're only asking for trouble if you do.The crackling sound may be a driver issue; may be cabling, speakers, etc. May be the sound files.Sleeping USB ports is a power setting that I can't seem to find right now. If I find anything more on it I will post here.Cheers,Doug

Peter, Look in Device Manager, hit the plus next to computer, if it says something about ACPI you couldn't change the IRQ's even if you wanted to. No matter what you do in the bios XP will give the cards what ever IRQ it wants to.Allen
