October 21, 200223 yr Arrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!Sorry but I'm just so frustrated! Here's the story, and I'll try to be as comprehensive as possible...here goes;)Pc1: Win 98Se-TCP/IP protocols installed using an ip of 192.168.0.1 and a submask of 255.255.255.0-IPX/SPX have also been installed, using Netbios aswell.-I'm using a 3com Ethernet card with a CAT5 crossover cable.-File Sharing has been enabled aswell as Printing-Pc name: PC1 workgroup: macs Description: Amd 1.4Now for PC2:-TCP/IP are installed aswell,ip set at 192.168.0.2 with the Submask set to that of PC1.....First problem, when I check for a ping using MS-dos,the PC is coming up as 127.0.0.1 despite having checked to see that the IP are set manually. Following various tutorials. All I wanta do is use this for Flightsim, particulary Project Magenta. Please-I'd appreciate any suggestions. Especially Links to chat rooms where people can guide me through***ThanksP.s Bear in mind, that no I'm not exactly a computer Guru, but I'm fairly competent;-)
October 21, 200223 yr Hit start, run, type "winipcfg", OK. Select your NIC, what IP, Mask, and Default Gateway do you have? Did you set a default Gateway on your NIC properties. Try setting the default gateway on both computers TCP/IP Properties to: 192.168.000.001 (192.168.0.1).This is one of the reasons I use an external router. It handles all the setup. Bill Sieffert
October 22, 200223 yr Thanks for the Reply, I hadn't set a gateway at the time of writing as I'd read somewhere that it wasn't required...I've set it now and things seem to be coming togethere. Both Pc's have the correct Ip's and masks aswell as Gateways. Something is wrong with Pc one,I know what so I just need the time to fix it. Once again thanks :-beerchug
