October 28, 200223 yr HI all, I used a Voodoo5 for a long time and just bought a GForce 2 Ti for a good price. Problem: I can
October 29, 200223 yr If you have three stick of 256MB RAM, try removing one stick and see if the problem goes away.Since you changed from Voodoo5 to NVidia, you probably don't need to remove the Voodoo5 drivers but it is best that you do. Check your Control Panel Add/Remove Programs menu.Visit www.guru3d.com for help on installing drivers.I have a VisionTek GeForce 2Ti 64MB DDR on a WinXP Pro machine and it runs fine. Bill Sieffert
October 29, 200223 yr Not sure if this will help, but it shoudn't cause any problems. If your video card fan is powered off the card itself, try using a m/b header if available nearby or tap into a psu connector with an adapter.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dbdc5b50daa442f.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dbdc5da0e1c2002.jpgquote from an old article -"The trick is to use power from the motherboard (or PSU) instead of from the card. The reason is two-fold, to allow the card to use all the power from the AGP slot (as the power coming from the AGP slot is limited) and by removing a dc motor (the fan motor) from the same electric line as the card. You see a DC motor introduces 'ripples' to the line, the same line which is used by the card, by removing the DC motor from the line you improve the quality of the current used by the card, hence also improving stability of the card.-"Kurt M
October 29, 200223 yr Another thought - the new video card takes more power than the old one - is your power supply adequate?Dale
November 2, 200223 yr Hi UwerI use KT7A and GFTI200 no probs, have you tried upping the volts to the card in the bios? go easy Also have you tried agpX2? not 4 to see if that stabilises itSun
November 2, 200223 yr Hi guys, thanks for all the input! I tried all the suggestions but sunstrikers (will try now) and have the curd running stable with good speed under Win2000. I am not as dissatisfied with it as last week, as I discovered that a few loved games run again (LinksLS 2000 to name one). I
November 5, 200223 yr Hi Uwe, I run a KT7A-RAID/GF2-Ti combo and did have a few problems with it. You could try increasing the (I think it's called - not exactly in a position to see at the moment ;-)) "AGP Driving Strength" to 'FA'. I still have problems if I physically switch off the PSU after powerdown or if the PC is disconnected from the mains. For some reason, my PC won't POST and will take many many attempts before I get a successful boot. Now I'm using a APC Back-UPS so if I need to move the PC, it's still connected to a power supply (of course this makes it rather heavy though!!)Wonder if the card fan header being moved to the motherboard would help my boot problem.....?????Cheers,Paul http://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/Fortress.gifVoted Best Virtual Airline of 2002 and Best CEO of 2002 by participants in the BIG VA Vote organized by FSPILOT.comVANF "Best" New Virtual Airline AwardOfficially licenced by British Airways plc for use of name and logohttp://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/saint_georgex1.gif
